St.Mary's Prom, Whitley Bay

St Mary’s prom is a very good mark to fish from the last 2 hours of the flood to the first 2 hours of the ebb.

Fish the bottom corner nearest the beach. The bottom is mixed, but can be quite heavy at times. A big chuck is not essential as a 60-80 yard lob will put you into the fish feeding area.

Big worm baits or crab is best for fish and the main species is codling.

The area usually fishes best once darkness has fallen but,  in big seas, the waves can come over the prom, so care must be taken to observe the conditions.
