Fishing on the Van Harinxma Canal, Leeuwarden, Friesland
Zander/Perchpike: The Van Harinxma-canal and its side-canals are good waters. Especially bridges and places where other waters converge with the canal are good spots.
Fishing near to obstacles works well, and lots of zander are caught fishing very near to the banks (from 10 cm up to 2 meters from the bank) because the bottom forms a slope there.
Techniques and baits: floatfishing with live bait (which is forbidden, but hey…) or deadbait (not forbidden) works well. Fish a few inches above the bottom. This is the classic Dutch technique for zander.
Artificial baits, especially plastic baits like twisters, shads, slugs etc. have come into fashion the last 5 years and have gotten MANY fish on the bank.
