Hakaarl is a unique dish to Iceland, and very likely to remain that way. It is rotted shark meat, a throwback to the days when burying food for the winter seemed like a good idea. It is absolutely revolting, and sells at deli prices in the market in Reykjavik. The Icelanders take this dish very seriously.
