Our comfortable lodge is conveniently located on the Kuchtui River near Ochotsk. In this ideal, rustic setting, situated in the mids of a fragrant pine forest, you are able to fish at your leisure in the spakling clear water. The Kuchtui runs approximately 100 miles from the coastal mountains to the Nord-Pacific (Sea of Ochotsk). The main-river lies in a huge gravel bed that runs from 30 to 100 yards wide. The gravel bottom is perfect for wading and provides excellent conditions for the flyfisherman. The magnificent landscape is more ‘taiga’ like, which means a mixture of forest and moorlands in a huge valley surrounded by hills and mountains.

The prolific salmon spawn in small brooks and tributaries as well as the main river.

The river has a huge runs of all pacific salmon (except Kings) with Coho as predominant. The other species, the Humpback, run up to 9 lbs., the Dogsalmon (Keta) run up to 24 lbs. as do the Coho. Silversalmon run up to 24 lbs. also, in addition there are two species of Char and Arctic grayling.

We have 6 cabins, each accommodating 2 persons. There is a main house with a fireplace and cozy bar. For total relaxation we have a Russian Banya with sauna, shower and swimming pool. The lodge is just 10 miles from the sea, which assures a constant supply of fresh fish.

Easily accessible by plane. Rates are reasonable and include 3 hearty meals

‘What a wonderful place and a great concept for the serious fisherman, and so many other interesting things to do. We wish we had discovered it (Koskentila) the first day we were in Finland.’

Gary and Monica Wescott – The Turtle Expedition, Unltd. – California, USA

The Nykälä Rapids are a varied resort for fishing in Finland in the Haukivuori region 40 km north-west of Mikkeli. The Nykälä Rapids belong to the system called the Mäntyharju-route and is situated on the upper course of it.

The fishing area is 4 km long with 5 rapids for brown trout and a separate small lake for large pike (record 15,3 kg).Fish include large brown trout, grayling, pike, perch, ide and bream. The main catch is the brown trout (Salmo trutta). During last season 1085 brown trout were caught by 1120 fishermen. The Nykälä Rapids are number one in Finland for brown trout.

The lower part of the river (2 km) with its four rapids is dedicated to fly-fishing and spin-fishing.

Fishing from the boat is possible in the upper part of the river (2 km) or in a small lake ‘Pieni-Poikimo’ (6 hectares).

The upper part of the river is excellent for exciting torch fishing at nights. Along the fishing area there are bridges, jetties, campfires, a lean-to-shelter, an outhouse. In the courtyard of the estate there is a smoke oven/grill.

Fishing trips are organized to lake Kyyvesi (133 km², 400 islands), well-known for its big pike and pike-perch.

The fishing season continues until the waters freeze at the beginning of December and fishing brown trout is allowed even during 11 September – 15 November

The Koskentila Estate is the center of the fishing area. It is an over 400-year-old traditional Finnish farm now renovated and dedicated to serious fishermen. The Koskentila Estate consists of ten different 130-year-old buildings and the surrounding land and has true historical and scenic value. In the main building there is a café, a kiosk and a reception where you can buy fishing permits and hire a boat or fishing equipment.

The livingroom for the guests is a huge log room with a massive original oven and open fire.

In the reception room there is also a library with books and magazines about fishing and catch statistics.

Accommodation is in the small traditional log cabins around the main building. They have only modest conveniences; heating and lightning with electricity, a fridge and a drying cupboard for wet clothes. Each cabin is furnished with six beds. Total 38 beds. Overnighting is also possible in the lean-to-shelter, a tent or a caravan.

Sauna with an open fire in the dressing room, showers and toilets and kitchen are in separate building.

Kamchatka is a magnificent land with unusual and beautiful natural surroundings. Kamchatka is the place for real nature lovers who measure their impressions not by hotel service and restaurant meals but by something more valuable – the beauty of nature.

Volcanoes, 28 of them active and 160 dormant plus hot springs and the Valley of Geysers are only a small part of those wonders that will leave even the most curious of travellers excited. You can meet here different animals, birds, rare plants and, fish. And what fish! Fishermen feel like in paradise! There are plenty of different kinds of Salmon,Grayling, Char, Rainbow Trout, Steelhead and other fish in the Kamchatka rivers.

Our team came together by good fortune because of love of travel, adventure and Kamchatka’s beautiful wilderness. In recent years we all have been avid outdoorsmen gaining our experience on the rivers and mountains of Kamchatka, Altai, Tuva, Tyan-Shan, Caucasus, and the Urals. We all are welded together in friendship, reliability, a passion for adventure and hunger for discovery.

In the late 1980s we received our first visitors from the Baltic States, East Germany and Czechoslovakia. In 1991 we were the first on Kamchatka to offer a fishing tour for American, Italian, Australian and Russian guests. Our guides have learned well the secrets of fishing on many rivers of our peninsula. Our team is friendly, cheerful and resourceful, guys who passionately love their work. It’s warm and homey, cozy and enjoyable on our trips.

Travel with us gives you many unexpected and unusual experiences leaving you with unforgettable impressions of happy times, luck in fishing, and hearty companionship. Our guests become our friends forever, as it should be, many return to us for a 2nd and 3rd time.

Kamchatka is unusually beautiful and generous with miracles!
